Untitled (shell suspension)

Shell, wax, plaster, chain

Installation

2017

In Untitled (Shell suspension), the artist broke shells with a hammer and glued them onto abstract shapes reminiscent of vital organs. She used fractured shells to question their primary function, which is to protect the being inside. The installation focuses on the capacity of human beings to destroy themselves and their own physical and psychological health. At the same time, it underlines the complexity of the human being. Dam invites the public to reflect on their own physical and psychological health and how they connect with each other.
