Pathological Inheritance
Silicone, chain and metal
Installation
2018
Pathological Inheritance is a reflection on the intergenerational transmission of trauma. Each shape symbolizes a member of the artist's family and the chain is used to question this transmission of the unconscious inheritance of past wounds. The repercussions that play out in the complexity of family relationships can lead to physical discomfort which can come from psychological disorders. The body stores traumatic memories which influence our psychological and physical conditioning in the long term while being transmitted from one generation to another. This work questions the perpetuity of this inevitability and offers resistance to the unconscious heritage of fractures.
