Héritage pathologique (Pathological inheritance)
silicone, chain, fabrics
Pathological inheritance is a reflection on the transgenerational transmission of trauma. Each shape symbolizes a member of the artist's family and the chain is used to question the unconscious transmission of past wounds. The repercussions that arise from complex family relationships can develop into physical illness and be exasperated by psychological disorders. The body remembers traumatic memories that influence our mental and physical states, all while being passed on from one generation to the next. This work questions the perpetuity of this reality and presents a form of courage to overcome our personal unconscious legacies of traumatic memories.
